The finding
Invoice finance market share is normally opaque: providers do not publish facility counts, and the trade body reports only aggregate lending value with a long lag. But every invoice finance facility is secured by a debenture, and every debenture is registered at Companies House the moment it is created. By reading those filings as they happen and identifying the lender on each one, we can see, month by month, which providers are actually winning new business.
In June 2026, 100 new invoice finance debentures were registered across 17 active UK lenders. eCapital Commercial Finance led with 24 (24% of the market's new facilities). The clearest structural signal is the continued retreat of the high street: banks and bank-backed lenders accounted for 35 of the 100 new facilities (35%), while independent and specialist providers wrote the other 65 (65%). The SME invoice finance market is now an independents' market by new-facility volume.

“This ranks lenders by the number of new debentures they registered at Companies House in the period, which we use as a proxy for new facility wins rather than for funded volume, deal value or overall market share. A lender that signs many small facilities will rank above one that writes a few large ones, and the charges stream only captures filings made while it was running, so treat the order as a read on recent registration activity in our sample, not a definitive market-share table. Price any funding decision on your own quotes, not on this ranking.”
Method
Every charge (debenture) registered at Companies House is published in real time on the Companies House charges streaming API. We consume that stream continuously and keep only the charges whose registered chargee (the persons entitled field) matches our curated list of 37 UK invoice finance lenders. Each kept charge is recorded once, by its filing date, and aggregated into a monthly total per lender.
We count new debenture registrations, which is a proxy for new facility wins, not confirmed deal value or drawn funds. A lender that signs many small facilities ranks above one that signs a few large ones. Classification is by name matching against the published lender list; where a parent bank files charges for unrelated lending (mortgages, asset finance) those are excluded because they do not carry an invoice finance entity name. We do not estimate or fill gaps: if the stream did not capture a charge, it is not counted.
Because the streaming API only surfaces charges filed while it is running, this study reports only the complete live-capture window that began in May 2026 2026. Earlier months hold sparse historical backfill and are excluded from the headline figures. A fresh edition is published each month as it closes, and the current month updates daily as a partial.
