That fits the product: agencies pay contractors weekly but invoice clients on long terms, so they finance the gap.

  • Temporary employment agencies: 875 businesses
  • Other recruitment agencies: 302 businesses
  • Freight transport by road: 12 businesses
  • Other transportation support: 1 businesses

Read this as a sample of the public register, not a market-share table
“This ranks lenders by debentures we counted on the live Companies House register of charges, which is a sample of public filings rather than the whole market. A debenture count is not the same as funded volume or market share: a bank writing a few very large facilities can fund far more than a specialist with many small ones. Treat the order as indicative of register activity in the scanned sample, and price any switch on your own quotes, not on league position.”

Methodology and source

This is aggregate analysis of public filings. The primary source is Analysis of the live Companies House register of charges (debentures), find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk. Aggregate of public filings; a scan of UK invoice-finance debentures, not the complete register. We counted the debentures held by each invoice finance lender on the live register and split them into outstanding (live) and satisfied (ended) charges, then ranked lenders by total. A live charge points to an active facility or security a lender has not yet released; a satisfied charge points to a facility that has closed, which is why a high "ended" count can flag a book that has churned or re-shopped.

For scale, UK Finance reports the invoice finance and asset based lending industry supports around 42,000 businesses (Invoice Finance and Asset Based Lending quarterly statistics, ukfinance.org.uk). This page is a scan of 1,260 debentures across 30 lenders through 2026-06-15, so it is NOT the complete register and the lender shares are indicative of the scanned sample rather than a definitive market-share table. The table ranks lenders only, from public Companies House data; it does not identify or profile any individual borrower.
